Labor Day weekend is here. If you’re like most, you’ll either be getting in some vacation time or getting in some fixer-upper time around the home. If you’re in the later group, we at support the DIY’ers of the world. It doesn’t matter if you have recently purchased a new home or are getting ready to knock off some checkmarks off the honey-do list; it seems that there is always work that needs to be done. Here are two important, easy home maintenance items that should be visited seasonally.

Labor Day Home Improvements

1. Inspect your siding

The siding on your house, condo, or apartment protects your home against the elements, and that home protects you. Help our home protect you and take the time to inspect it. Siding repairs are often minor and can usually be resolved on your own without too costly of an undertaking. However, that one small repair can save you thousands later. Get on it.

2. Inspect your deck

With every spring and summer comes an increase in activity and foot traffic on the deck. Then winter comes and brings that to a screeching halt. Winter then piles snow on the wood and withers it away for months, only to be revisited with summer-time foot traffic. Consider it a smart idea to look your deck over for wear and tear and consider fixing it and staining it for upcoming cooler temperatures and the winter months ahead.

With so many little repair activities always on the to-do list, we often don’t take the time to absorb the entire view of our homes. A house is beautiful. It protects us, brings us a place to entertain family and friends, and it’s always there for us. As the weather is changing and the leaves on the trees begin to fall, consider your home as more than wood beams and siding. What do you see? At, we hope you’ll make the most of new-found time this Labor Day weekend and take care of the home that takes care of you.
